Hello from Babar Suleman, the Greatest Artist in the World.
I am not interested in debating whether I am the greatest artist in the world or not (I am) but I invite you to instead think about what kind of histories, systems, structures, institutions, audiences, understanding, professionals, privileges, societies and power relations would allow for such a recognition given it is true.
I created Highest Brow, my own platform comprising an online cinema, gallery, publisher, podcast and more to assert control over my own distribution and, ultimately, present myself and my art on my own terms. I refuse to let a deeply unfair world, compromised towards maintaining the status quo, dilineate my identity or artistry.
Highest Brow is non-institutional and represents my singular creative vision. There are no intellectual or artistic compromises here.

Babar Suleman is an artist and writer, and holds a practice-led Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Art from the University of Oxford. A Fulbright scholar, they graduated with an MFA from Parsons School of Design (New York). Recent commissions and grants include The Elephant Trust, British Council’s International Collaboration Grant awarded via b-side festival, Platform Art Projects, Art Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice, and Compton Verney Art Gallery’s Inclusive Histories Research Fellowship. They have been invited to speak at various institutions including the Royal College of Art and The Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge. Suleman is a Senior Lecturer in Filmmaking at the Manchester School of Art.
